Tyrol is one of the most mystical and authentic regions of the Old Europe. Tyrol is also unique because of its historical difficulties and includes now two parts: the Northern part (which belongs to Austria), and the Southern part (which is included in Italy). Such division only gives to Tyrol another part of bright colors and lot of impressions. Day 1
Flight to Munich
Arrival, accommodation in hotel. Evening excursion in the city center where we will see the most famous sights such as the old and new guildhall, St. Michael Church, the Column of St. Maria etc. *A big sightseeing tour and its day depend on the flight.
Day 2
A big sightseeing city tour
A big sightseeing city tour including suburbs (Viktualenmarkt, BMW Museum, Nymphenburg castle etc.). Lunch in the city center*. Additional excursions are upon request*. The Old or New Pinacoteca, the Wittelsbach Residence etc. Moving to Austria. Evening excursion in Kufstein, the fortified town which was guarding the trade route from Bavaria to Tyrol. Overnight in hotel near Innsbruck.
Day 3
A sightseeing tour in Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian Tyrol
A sightseeing tour in Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian Tyrol. Free time, or rise to Nordkette to the highest peak – Hafelekar Station* (depends on the weather conditions). Innsbruck is the first mountain capital on our trip. Then it’s impossible to miss the modern local funicular Hungerburg which enables to reach the peak of the height of 2300 meters and enjoy the fresh air with an amazing mountains panorama. Evening trip to the thermal bath Aqua Dom* is possible. Night in the same hotel.
Day 4
Additional excursion through the North Tyrol for the whole day
Additional excursion through the North Tyrol for the whole day* - an acquaintance with the main treasures. A trip to Achensee and the village Maurach* (price includes funicular, tickets to the castle, and “knight” supper). Rise in the Rofan funicular to the same peak. Trekking from the station at a height of 1840 meters where different routes begin. Fresh air and mind-blowing landscapes are guaranteed!
After trekking is a stay near Achensee for photo break. This is the most picturesque and the largest lake in Austrian Tyrol (boat trip is possible*).
Visit of of the Tratzenbergcastle is possible in the afternoon. Unique furniture and distinct belongings from the Renaissance era (16th century) are preserved. The main rooms include halls with low ceiling beams with fine paneling, a state hall with imperial portraits, a Fugger room with authentic Renaissance decor, a mosaic door and much more. A “knight” supper at the Schlosswirt restaurant with the local dishes. Evening excursion in Schwaz town is possible. Night in the same hotel.
Day 5
Moving to South Tyrol
Moving to South Tyrol. A stroll in the village Vipiteno, the “gate” to the South Tyrol. The village is well-known by its gothic art, the luxurious guildhall, and its own “gimmick” – the Zwölfelturm tower connected old and new parts of the village. Rise to Monte Cavallo peak*. Trekking. Visit of the Gilfenklamm gorge* in the afternoon. The main route is equipped with bridges and paths that allow you to enjoy the water cascades to your heart's content. Moving to Bressanone. Accommodation in hotel. Evening excursion in the city center. (by arrival about 17.00). The third largest and one of the oldest (founded in 901) cities in South Tyrol, Bressanone is a favorite destination for active and inquisitive tourists. Despite its small size, its territory includes a huge number of attractions that are an invaluable historical heritage: the Cathedral, the Bishop's Palace, the Church of San Michele, the Stufels quarter, and much more. The atmosphere of Bressanone - always light and cheerful - beckons to go for a walk, lost in the labyrinths of small streets and imbued with the spirit of comfort and celebration.
Day 6
Free time in Bressanone
Free time in Bressanone. Additional excursion to the Dolomites* (price includes visit of two amazing little mountain villages and two funiculars to the Seceda peak). A stay near Ortisei, the center of the ladin culture who are original inhabitants of the Dolomites. The pride of the city is its multi-colored painted facades of houses and wooden figurines of saints and animals, which are one of the main items of folk craft. Ascent by funicular to the top of Seceda - one of the most beautiful mountain in the Dolomites. Walk-trekking. On the way back, an evening walk around the city of Chiusa - a small medieval world, which even Durer captured on his early canvases. If desired, dinner* in one of the local restaurants in the city with local Tyrolean cuisine.
Day 7
Continued acquaintance with the Dolomites
Continued acquaintance with the Dolomites. A trip to the Three Peaks (Tre Cime) - one of the most famous mountain peaks. A unique natural formation - mountains in the form of three teeth - every year attracts a huge number of climbers, athletes and just active travelers. The main circular route with dizzying landscapes will not leave anyone indifferent! Walk-trekking. Stop for a photo break and souvenirs at Lake Misurina - one of the most romantic mountain lakes. In the afternoon, walk through the village of Cibiana di Cadore. The colorful houses of local residents with bright painted facades are considered a special pride of the commune. This tradition began exactly forty years ago. From 1980 to 2002, Italian and foreign artists painted the walls of houses with frescoes that tell different stories with their content - about local life, life, crafts, joys and sorrows of the inhabitants of the commune. A walk along Cibiana di Cadore is a small adventure into the world of unusual painting and rich history! Return to hotel.
Day 8
A trip towards the Fanes-Sennes-Prags National Park
A trip towards the Fanes-Sennes-Prags National Park - another "pearl" and pride of the Dolomites. Stop in the town of Badia. Funicular ride to Santa Croce Peak*: walk-walk at the foot of Sas dla Crusc and Cima Dieci (Zehner) peaks. Here you can also take a walk towards the glacial gorge (Grotta del Ghiacco): the grotto is in good condition only during long cold winters. In the evening Visit of of one of the picturesque towns of the Dolomites. For example, the village of Castelrotto. Return to the hotel. As an alternative. Can be replaced with Passo Pordoi and Canazei.
Day 9
Moving to Bolzano
Moving to Bolzano. Acquaintance with the capital of South Tyrol. Free time (independent climb to the Renon plateau if desired). Further acquaintance with the wine traditions of the region. Visit of of to one of the villages (places) specializing in winemaking. Tour and tasting*. In the afternoon, a trip to the "summer capital" of South Tyrol, the resort town of Merano and a Visit of of to the thermal springs *. For those who wish (as an alternative to thermae), it is possible to organize an excursion to the Trauttmansdorf botanical garden, known for its amazing flowers and plants from various climatic zones. Day 10
Moving towards the Ötztal Alps
Moving towards the Ötztal Alps. Walk through the small town of Glurns (Glorenza). This architectural "pearl" of South Tyrol, the only one of the Alto Adige cities that has survived intact to this day, with its narrow alleys and picturesque Gothic facades, has retained its appearance for many centuries. Further transfer to the lake Reschensee (Reschensee), which appeared artificially on the site of a sunken village. Boat trip on the lake* (approx. 12 €) around the spire of the sunken church - the only reminder of the old days. Ascent by funicular to the top of Haideralm. Walk-trekking. Night in Austria.
Day 11
Moving to Germany
Moving to Germany. Acquaintance with the ancient imperial city of Füssen. Visit of the famous German castle Neuschwanstein*. Drive through the Schwangau valley, stop at the Pilgrimage Church in Wieskirche, a masterpiece of South German Baroque. Moving to Munich. Overnight at the hotel.
